  • The US vs. The World

      vs.

Perhaps a better name for this blog is "independence" vs. "interdependence." What is interesting to me is that socially most of the world promotes interdependence - a reliance on self and others. Family and community are the core structure. Oddly enough, even though the US is comprised of immigrants from many parts of the world that promote interdependence, the model that is promoted and lived out in America is INDEPENDENCE and self-sufficiency: the lone cowboy, i'll do it myself sort of deal. How is that possible?
  • Behind "Defying Gravity"

Does anyone xanga anymore? I wanted to start a blog called "Defying Gravity" however, I discovered that it is a title of a new ABC TV show, and that its been used on a number of other blogs. I considered "Defying Logic" - but that's been taken away as well.

Anyway, Defying Gravity can be about anything unusual or extraordinary out of the ordinary, and what is more ordinary and normal than gravity? For example, the story Dick and Rick Hoyt. There connection and relationship is inspiring and unheard of. Google their name and find a YouTube video about them, and I assure you that tears will come (even for the manliest of men).
